As a student myself, I see Pinterest as a great way of searching for new ways of teaching and a resource to help get some ideas for my future classroom. Pinterest has some amazing ideas that are shared throughout the world web and are put together by people like us in a simple way as by typing one word and boom you have hundreds of thousands of ideas to choose from!
The social network is a great way for teachers to get together and share different ideas on classroom decor, lesson plans, and project ideas. Teachers always need ways of explaining lessons to their students, and through Pinterest, one can bring ideas from other teachers or make up their own by viewing what others have come up with to help students learn in exciting ways.
For a teacher it can help in ways that most people wouldn't think of. Some ideas include:

• Decorating ideas for the classroom
• Bulletin boards
• Lesson plans
• Projects
• Sing a longs for different subjects
• Web quests

I made this project Here to help students better understand the history of Egypt and by also involving geometry to enhance the learning of the students. It was Pinterest that gave me the idea of making this project. I used my creativity and imagination to build up on my idea such as what the other teachers of Pinterest had used in theirs. The project was fun to make and could be done in any way that you want because you are the one creating it. The activity also includes a rubric that I used through Rubistar, an online organizer to help make a great rubric.

The Ways of Ancient Egypt

Essential Question(s): How did the Egyptians build the Pyramids of Giza?

Lesson Objective(s):  Students shall identify the given shape(s) recognized in the assignment, measure it correctly, and complete the required task at hand.

Overview: The subject of the assignment is to help the students better understand the material by measuring, identifying, and explaining what a pyramid is and how measuring can help solve familiar problems.

Assignment:  Provide detailed and specific step-by-step instructions for students.

1.      Students will be given the following materials:

·         White Construction Paper

·         Color Markers

·         Scissors

·         Tape

·         Ruler

·         List of hieroglyphics

2.      With the materials, the students will use a marker and ruler to measure out how big the pyramid will be.

3.      The measurements:

·         Square-(4 inches X 4 inches)

·         Triangle(s)-(4 inches bottom X 3-5/8 inches sides X 3 inches tall

4.      The students will then color in the pyramid with their name on the square of the pyramid to help identify each after completed.

5.      When the marker is dry, the students will get the hieroglyphics sheet out and put their name on the sides of the pyramid using the Egyptian writing.

6.      Once the pyramid is colored, the students will cut out the outside of the pyramid (DO NOT CUT OUT THE TRIANGLE AND SQUARE!).

7.      The pyramids will then be folded at the lines of the square where the triangles will make the pyramid come together. The tape will then be used to hold the triangles together.
